Purpose

 

Assist in the management of investment portfolios by ensuring asset mix and total return meet client’s term income and investment growth goals through the use of central models containing approved securities and following the corporate investment asset mix strategy under the supervision of the Portfolio Manager or Associate Portfolio Manager.  

 

Work closely with Portfolio Manager or Associate Portfolio in support of the on-boarding, monitoring and reporting of portfolios.    

 

Please note: This role is focused on servicing internal clients only, there will be no exposure to working directly with external clients. 

 


Accountabilities

 

Provide centralized portfolio management services by:


•    Regularly monitoring portfolios to ensure they are in-line with the security and asset mix targets and   rebalancing where appropriate
•    Assisting with the development and execution of the various modeling strategies including but not limited to:
•    Model changes 
•    Onboarding and realigning new accounts to the central models
•    Handling some special situations, i.e. illiquid positions or non-discretionary components of their portfolios.
•    Cash management activities
•    Maintaining the central models on the portfolio accounting system and completing the various field communications and reporting. 
•    Maintaining our supplemental client/portfolio database 

 

Provide timely support for the Portfolio Manager or Associate Portfolio Manager by:
•    Preparing and customization of client portfolio reports and various management reporting 
•    Identifying areas of risk and opportunities for process improvement. 

 

Ensure a high level of client satisfaction, internally and externally by: 
•    Proactively identifying and implementing strategies to address client needs
•    Preparing communications and various reports in support of investment decisions.
•    Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, firm policies and accuracy of trading activities  


Contribute to the effective functioning of the Centralized Portfolio Management  team by:
•    Assisting with various initiatives including technology projects and operational efficiency changes 
•    Acting as resource for general inquiries from the other departments 
•    Providing a high level of customer service 
•    Maintaining a culture of open and honest communication
•    Participating and contributing to touch bases and team meetings
•    Encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches 
•    Actively share knowledge and experience to enhance the development of all team members

 


Education/Experience

 

•    A University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent
•    Strong investment management knowledge and experience as it relates to understanding economic and capital markets 
•    Minimum 2 years direct industry experience
•    Strong relationship management skills
•    Strong interpersonal, communication & listening skills
•    Advanced knowledge of Excel, Portfolio Accounting systems  and Bloomberg.
•    Enrollment in CFA program is an asset, or
•    CIM, or its predecessor CIF, or in process of attaining CIM accreditation
