Canadian Banking Engineering Squad is looking for a Solution Architect who will be a key player in architecting the future technology road map for Canadian Banking applications. This candidate will work closely with Product partners, business and other technology teams to provide scalable technology architecture which will looking at a possibility of rolling out global applications thereby simplifying our technology ecosystem.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
• Work with technology teams to understand current state gaps, future state capabilities needed and industry landscape
• Lead the prioritization and development of implementation roadmaps to address gaps and ensure solutions are in line with enterprise vision
• Lead one or more large scale technology initiatives from inception to execution working with technology teams across the Bank
• Work with teams to develop viable business cases focusing on moving towards target state technology architecture and capabilities. Activities include target state reference architecture, gap analysis, initiative cost/benefit analysis, hardware/software costs, resource forecasting etc.
• Lead project workstreams, including leading problem-solving sessions, workshops and interviews with cross-functional and business line working team members and subject matter experts
• Provide guidance to project delivery teams to develop integrated project plans including adequate work breakdown structure, key inter-dependencies, milestones, and resource allocation
• Present and communicate with our CTO, engineering heads and other senior leaders on an ongoing basis to gather feedback, report progress and solve issues
• Work closely with technical teams and SMEs to ensure technology initiatives are delivered on time, within budget forecasts and deliver value identified at inception
• Work closely with non-technology teams including business lines, HR, Finance and Risk to ensure technology initiatives are meeting business needs and are integrated within the bank effectively
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
• 10+ years of IT experience with clear progression through various roles leading with at least 3 years of experience providing hands-on architectural design for software applications with proven track record of building a product and taking it to market.
• Strong understanding of frontend development, specifically microapp design patterns.
• Bachelor (equivalent or higher) degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience working in Financial Services domain highly desirable.
• Experience in designing/developing cloud native solutions in GCP, Azure, AWS platforms.
• Experience in architecting end-to-end solutions involving multiple technology platforms and developing solutions leveraging established architecture/design frameworks.
• Practical experience in addressing data management challenges as part of architecture solution development.
• Experience in Security Architecture on the areas of authentication, authorization, and auditing.
• Hands-on experience in Microservices design, Event driven architecture, ETL and data solutions and System resiliency engineering.
• Proven hands-on experience in leading Proof of Concept / Proof of Technology initiatives.
• Experience in Agile, DevOps and iterative software development.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills with the ability to build and foster relationships with business partners, project stakeholders, strategic technology partners and external vendors.
• Ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries, build relationships, and achieve broader organizational goals.
• Must be flexible and ready to adapt to a dynamic environment.
