Position Overview
In this role, the Configuration Management Specialist will be expected to perform Configuration Management (CM) activities in accordance with the CM plan and support people involved in the control of configuration items to meet the MFTD contractual requirements.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Create and Support CM Documentation: Develop and maintain Configuration Management (CM) documentation to meet programs need.
Configuration Status Accounting: Track real-time status reports including, but not limited to, open issues, reliability, and availability, etc.
CM Support and Consulting: Provide CM support to external clients at their sites.
Participation in CM and Change Management Boards: Review and approve engineering changes, ensure baseline integrity, and follow up on issues.
Configuration Management Tools: Set up and support tools for change and version control, and tailor them to project requirements.
Automated Systems Support: Support systems for logging, tagging, and tracking project assets.
Software Tools Evaluation and Deployment: Assist in selecting, deploying, and managing software tools for CM processes.
Training on CM Processes: Provide training on CM processes and tool usage to project teams and customers.
Configuration Management Audits: Establish audit schedules and perform physical configuration audits at various sites.
Baseline Management and Reporting: Implement baseline management processes, report on baseline status, and manage project hardware and software asset records.
Some domestic travelling involved (about 3 times/year)
Required skills & Qualifications
At least two years of experience in configuration management or equivalent relevant experience.
Knowledge of systems (hardware & software) life cycle and development methodologies.
Knowledge of Configuration Management processes and procedures.
Knowledge of Quality Assurance procedures (audits).
Proficiency in MS Office productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
