This role supports the Emerging Businesses team and leads the design, development, and deployment of new digital channels and services. Focused within the Personal and Business Bank, the incumbent will play a key role in enabling next-generation banking platforms at BMO. This role has broad strategy and delivery responsibility, spanning across business groups, requiring ongoing interaction with finance, marketing, product, risk, loyalty, and channel groups.

In addition to delivering near-term digital capabilities, this role will also help shape the bank’s strategic response to disruptive forces expected to reshape financial services over the next 3–5 years. This includes exploring and operationalizing opportunities in open banking, real-time payments, cryptocurrency, and advanced data aggregation and analytics.
Key Accountabilities
Digital Roadmap & Innovation Strategy
- Develop a digital roadmap across key journeys, translating customer needs and business requirements into product features.
- Lead horizon-scanning efforts to identify disruptive trends and emerging technologies with potential to reshape banking.
- Translate long-term disruption themes (e.g., open banking, real-time payments, crypto, data ecosystems) into actionable innovation initiatives.
- Set the vision and articulate goals & milestones in a concise go-to-market plan.
- Work cross-functionally with digital, marketing, and operations teams to build enabling solutions that elevate current services and prepare for future shifts.
Partnership Framework
- Develop a modern framework that enables partnerships at scale, including fintechs and data service providers.
- Identify and evaluate a pipeline of service providers aligned to both current needs and future disruption themes.
- Lead cross-functional teams to integrate third-party services into BMO channels.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop business-level requirements, supporting business cases, and go-to-market plans.
Influencing and Relationship Management
- Effectively communicate key messages and recommendations to executive and working-level teams.
- Partner across business functions including Marketing, Finance, Technology & Operations, Channels, and Distribution to ensure ongoing alignment.
- Act as a thought leader and internal advocate for future-focused innovation themes.
Qualifications
Knowledge
- Strong external focus with ability to synthesize trends and anticipate disruption in financial services.
- Financial acumen to develop fact-based business cases.
- Experience with design thinking and innovation frameworks.
- Familiarity with open banking, real-time payments, crypto, and data aggregation platforms.
- Understanding of banking technology stacks and API-based architectures.

Qualifications:
Typically 9+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in Business or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong experience with consumer / commercial credit applicable to retail and business financing products.
Strong experience working with retail and business product fundamentals, including product design, functionality, and related policies and procedures
Strong knowledge of product delivery infrastructure systems and underlying product interdependencies.
In-depth retail and business banking environmental awareness / understanding.
In-depth risk management associated with new and existing product development and management.
Strong knowledge of process coordination and management.
Strong knowledge of banking product management and associated industry and regulatory requirements.
