Summary of responsibilities:

The Senior Advisor, Business Analysis is responsible for working with IT and its stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate, validate and translate business requirements into documentation and conceptual design from which solutions, including changes to business processes and information systems are developed. Senior BA is also responsible for guidance in IT business systems and business analysis best practices in support of CATSA business lines. They help to enable change in CATSA enterprise by defining needs and recommending solutions that deliver value to stakeholders. They helps stakeholders to articulate their needs and better clarify the rationale for change, and to design and describe solutions that can deliver value. The Senior Advisor, Business Analysis performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.

What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:

  •           Graduation from a recognized college or university with specialization in Computer Science, Information Technology/Management, or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

  •           A minimum of six (6) years of experience in business analysis, requirements definition, building system solutions and deployment of business requirements for information and enterprise systems.

  •           Expertise and experience in all Business Analysis knowledge areas including but not limited to Business Analysis Planning and Monitoring; Elicitation and Collaboration; Requirements Life Cycle Management; Strategy Analysis; Requirements Analysis and Design Definition; Solution Evaluation.

  •           Experience gathering and documenting business and functional requirements for business systems.

  •           Experience preparing requests for proposals (RFP), including statements of work, solution/service requirements, and evaluation grids.

  •           Knowledge and understanding of project management, quality assurance principles and practices;

  •           Experience creating project schedules, defining roles and responsibilities and resource planning.

  •           Experience providing status reporting risk and issues logs and mitigations plans.

  •           Experience developing effective and efficient solutions by researching and analyzing current state system capabilities and defining technology solutions options and recommendations.

  •           Experience facilitating meetings and workshops, as well as developing and delivering presentations and training materials for various audience levels.

  •           Solid knowledge of the IT environment, including IT System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Valuable skills include:

  •           Knowledge of CATSA's mandate and priorities, as well as an awareness of relevant legislation impacting CATSA.

  •           An good understanding of fundamental business principles and best practices.

  •           An understanding of current practices and activities within IT and CATSA related industry, and similar processes across industries.

  •           Good knowledge of Tools and Techniques such as but not limited to Office Productivity Tools and Technology, Business Analysis Tools and Technology.

  •           Good understanding and knowledge of Business Analysis perspectives such as but not limited to Agile, Business Intelligence, Information Technology, Business Architecture, Business Process Management.

  •           Certification in Business Analysis from an accredited institution.

  •           Knowledge  of International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) best practices.

  •           Experience in contract/vendor management.

  •           Knowledge and understanding of project management and quality assurance principles and practices.

  •           Knowledge and awareness of BABOK best practices.

Specific work requirements

  •        Ability to work overtime as required;

  •        Ability to travel as required

  •        Language Profile: English essential;

  •        Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; and

  •        Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
