Job Description:The successful candidate will complement our transportation client’s contingent of staff and contract Project Managers in IT Programs & Projects Delivery (PMO). The Business Analyst’s primary assignment is the Occupational Health work stream within a health and safety transformation program.
The program will enable our transportation client with a digital platform to manage and support health and safety processes, work and nonwork claims, and incident management. This role is to work with Occupational Health, Benefits and Payroll teams, to assess how they want to utilize the Cority Health and Safety Solution to replace their current paper-based processes. This is a hands-on role where you will determine their scope and use your technical expertise to assess what is feasible in the solution, attain sign off, then work directly with the configuration team to build the requirements. Upon completion of the build, you will need to attain sign off or manage refinement requests from the business until it satisfies their needs.
The Business Analyst may also be assigned to other full life-cycle projects as required by the Business Technology Services (BTS) Project Management Office. Project assignment will also depend on the contract PM’s suitability and qualifications.
Roles & Responsibilities: Reporting to a Project Manager within our transportation client’s Business and Technology Services (BTS) Division the Business Analyst will provide the following services to an appropriate level of detail as determined by the Project Manager:
- Identify business problems or opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations that align with the program objectives.
- Lead discussions with stakeholder groups to identify and analyze requirements using a variety of techniques such as interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, use cases/scenarios, workflow analysis.
- Evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, use thought leadership to pull together multiple stakeholder needs into 1 cohesive project plan.
- Reconcile conflicts and decompose high-level information into detailed functional and technical specifications.
- Document detailed business requirements and review high-level system design using the client’s standard project methodology templates and guidelines and coordinate requirement walk-throughs and signoffs with business stakeholders.
- Work with BTS staff and business stakeholders to document current as-is and/or to-be business processes, using the client’s standard business process notation and diagramming methods.
- Perform fit-gap analysis, as required.
- Coordinate technology stakeholders to sign off on solutions options and identify technology/service gaps.
- Work with vendor and evaluate potential technology solutions to ensure that they meet business requirements.
- Prepare and present decision documentation to key stakeholders for decision-making.
- Assist the Project Manager in developing and maintaining project plans and the WBS, as required.
- Support and/or lead the development of a Test Strategy and Plan and Acceptance Testing.
- Develop Use Case Scenarios and evolve them into Test Scripts.
- In consultation with various stakeholders, maintain the Requirements Traceability Matrix and ensure that the solution is delivered according to specifications.
- Work with suppliers and other stakeholders to resolve conflicts around functionality, features, and specifications.
- Support the business stakeholders and/or lead the delivery of training to rollout the new solution to the business.
- Application post launch customer support and basic configuration and troubleshooting
- Facilitate BA-related communications and prepare and maintain relevant documentation.
- Participate in the development and execution of Organizational Change Management (OCM) materials as required.
Education & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of Business Analyst experience including:
- Business Process improvement skills
- Analysis and facilitation skills
- Communication, presentation and writing skills
- Ability to gather, analyze, and consolidate information from a variety of sources (e.g. documents, interviews, brainstorming sessions, etc.)
- Saas configuration
- Test planning and execution skills
- Ability to work with the software vendor to ‘translate’ business requirements into detailed system specifications
- Knowledge of standard MS Office tools including Microsoft Project and SharePoint
- MS Visio process documentation skills
- Experience working in Occupational Health & Safety (H&S), specifically in Incident Management is beneficial
- Business Analyst Certification (e.g. International Institute of Business Analysis CBAP, PMI PBA, etc.)
- Previous development experience in a technical environment is beneficial
- Vendor management (SaaS) skills
- Agile methodology knowledge
- Organization Change Management (OCM) skills
