The Strategy and Market Access Division is responsible for the Department's Strategic energy policy related to the Energy Transition with a focus on energy security, climate policy, development of a lower carbon natural gas value chain and investment attraction through incentive program design. It is also responsible for legislation process and agencies.
The Natural Gas Strategy and Engagement Branch leads the strategic development of a lower-carbon natural gas value chain and petrochemical program delivery. It ensures appropriate integration and alignment of strategic policies involving natural gas and key low carbon development pathways related to hydrogen, liquified natural gas (LNG), petrochemicals and plastics circular economy across the Government of Alberta. Through stakeholder engagement, environmental scanning, risk-assessments, and manufacturing opportunities assessment, it seeks to grow and diversify the natural gas sector into the new low carbon energy landscape.
The Competitiveness and Environment Unit leads and implements strategy, policy development, and advocacy to ensure competitiveness of Alberta’s natural gas supply for domestic and export opportunities. The team leads and supports multi-disciplinary projects to achieve responsible energy development of Alberta energy resources.

The Senior Policy Analyst will work within a team environment and will focus on the following duties and responsibilities:
The candidate must be aware of trends, issues and best practices across Canada and around the world to effectively analyze information to develop recommendations for a wide variety of products and purposes. The Senior Policy Analyst will work with technical experts in the ministry to translate and interpret critical information for policy and informational use. The ability to adjust to changing priorities and assignments and facilitate collaborative discussions that drive toward solutions are critical for success.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent communication, problem solving, time management skills, and political acumen to manage issues that are diverse, complex and often politically sensitive.
