The QE Senior Manager is responsible for testing delivery and processes across a portfolio of projects ensuring high-quality testing governance, conducting QA reviews, supporting project teams in creating effective testing strategies and ensuring successful test execution using manual and automated testing techniques.
The QE Senior Manager will be responsible for quality assurance in all the phases of TDLC (Requirement Analysis, Estimation, Test Design, Test Execution, Test Closure etc.)
The QE Senior Manager will be working with both FTE and GR Vendor resources and managing their work from a delivery and test governance perspective.
Strategic Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire a team of skilled testers, providing guidance and fostering a culture of excellence in testing practices.
- Implement or maintain/follow robust quality assurance standards, methodologies and best practices in a manner which aids and augments the realisation of project deliverables and business benefits.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, development teams, and stakeholders to ensure testing aligns with project timelines and requirements.
- Ensure the quality of the products that technology delivers, working closely with all applications, common services/middleware, and infrastructure teams throughout the development/engineering lifecycle.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive test strategy aligned with organizational goals, ensuring efficient and effective testing processes for the projects while making sure every stage of software development meets the standard.
- Formulate quality assurance frameworks, processes, procedures and metrics.
- Apply expertise to integrate continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) pipeline and automate testing processes.
- Evaluate and mitigate testing-related risks, ensuring the identification and resolution of issues throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, driving initiatives to enhance testing effectiveness and reduce time-to-market.
- Drive the testing automation capabilities including the right automation strategy for the team to enhance testing efficiency and coverage. Co-ordinate with IT stakeholders to identify opportunities to use new technologies to automate and speed up the testing life cycle.

Operational Responsibilities:
- Analyze the project requirements right from inception stage and provide accurate testing estimates at different stages (L0/L1/L2)
- Collaborate with software development teams to establish test requirements as part of the software development lifecycle.
- Verify product documentation to ensure they are complete, correct, and consistent.
- Create test strategies to make sure that the product and every stage of software development meets the standard. Prepare master test plans and test sign off documentation.
- Ensure on-time design, development, execution of test cases with agreed upon accuracy/quality. Ensure test results are recorded and documented as per BMO processes.
- Create automated tests that are executable in the pipeline.
- Lead initiatives from the front. Be part of important portfolio project meetings. Be able to coordinate resources and manage problems to resolution when necessary.
- Report regularly on all QA activities, including progress on specific milestones, defect counts and patterns, resource participation, overall project status.
- Record problems and issues in accordance with problem and issue management standards and practices.
- Participate in defect management activities and root cause analysis.
- Participate in the release control process (when the application is transferred from the build team to the test team) to ensure that solutions meet business requirements.
- Perform analysis of test results and prepare comprehensive subsystem and/or system level test summary report reflecting the level of quality of the software under test, managing all testing activity using a variety of test management tools. Arrange for status reports to be sent as per agreed frequency.
- Communicate the overall quality of the deliverable and ensure metrics are used to drive delivery and identify any areas of concern.
- Facilitate demos for Business and solicit testing sign off after successful test completion.
- Handle program audits from a QE standpoint.

Qualifications/Skills:
- 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge. A strong track record of portfolio test management in financial services organisation is necessary.
- Knowledge of the SDLC, testing concepts, methodologies, metrics, automated testing frameworks and documentation standards.
- Intermediate level of proficiency – cloud computing, agile methodologies, building & managing relationships, emotional agility
- Proficiency with test automation tools like Test Complete, Selenium, UFT, Postman, SoapUI
- Experience with Continuous testing, CI/CD, Agile and AI for testing
- Advanced level of proficiency: database engineering, systems development lifecycle, software development, scalability, Devops, customer centricity, QA and testing, test automation, test techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, co-ordination and relationship development skill
- Experience of managing and communicating complex issues to VP level stakeholders
- Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies in software testing
- Relevant certifications: ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA, CSM are desireable.
- Be an expert in data driven decision making.
- Able to manage ambiguity.
$92,400.00 - $171,600.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.
Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
