Role
The Compassionate Intervention (CI) Statutory Director is responsible for establishing and leading the Office of the Statutory Director to implement the Compassionate Intervention program.
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy and Programs, the Executive Director will be formally designated as the Provincial Statutory Director for Compassionate Intervention. As the Executive Director, you will lead the establishment and operations of the CI Office of the Statutory Director, ensuring the effective implementation of legislation across Alberta. You will oversee the development and execution of statutory responsibilities, including the review of CI applications and the collection of information to support decisions made by the Compassionate Intervention Commission.
In this role, you will lead policy development and innovation, applying agile and creative approaches to deliver new and evolving services in a dynamic environment. You will collaborate with the Commission and key stakeholders to develop and maintain legally sound, evidence-informed policies and practices that support the CI program. You will foster strong internal and external relationships, promoting collaboration and shared accountability across ministries, service providers, and community partners.
You will also provide expert advice to senior ministry executives and government officials on matters related to Compassionate Intervention, while ensuring alignment and integration within the broader Alberta recovery model, working in partnership with other executive leaders. Your accountabilities will also include identifying and addressing operational issues, providing strategic insights and recommendations to inform ministry-wide planning and decision-making.
This is a high-impact leadership role requiring strategic vision, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to compassionate, person-centered intervention.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a proven track record of senior leadership and strategic influence, capable of establishing and leading the newly created Office of the Compassionate Intervention Statutory Director.
You bring extensive experience in leadership, including oversight of legislated functions and the management of high-performing teams within complex organizational environments. Your background includes demonstrated success in operational planning, policy development, program implementation, and performance reporting.
You possess exceptional strategic thinking skills and the ability to lead through ambiguity, driving meaningful organizational outcomes. You are a skilled change leader, with a talent for organizational development, effective communication, and team building. You are adept in negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement, and have the ability to navigate and resolve complex, multi-faceted issues. Your political acumen and understanding of government decision-making processes will enable you to operate effectively within a dynamic and high-profile environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of Alberta’s legislative framework related to privacy, addiction, and mental health and sound understanding of the Alberta Recovery Model and the broader provincial health and social services landscape will support your success in this role. A university degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, or law). Graduate degree is an asset. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will also be considered.
Salary
$5,234.94 - $6,879.68 bi-weekly ($136,631 - $179,559 annually)
