The opportunity


As an integral part of the Global Rewards team, the Investment Compensation Analyst will report to the AVP, Investment Compensation and provide research, analytical, and execution support to the Investment Compensation team. Activities to be undertaken by the Analyst include global market surveys and benchmarking, analytics and reporting, quantitative and qualitative analysis of compensation policies and practices, investment compensation program administration and design, and annual compensation cycles. The ideal candidate for this position is flexible, responsible, and able to thrive in a challenging environment, working effectively as part of a team and independently on projects spanning multiple functions and partners. Additionally, the candidate should be diligent, action-oriented, and enthusiastic about leveraging technology for scale and process efficiencies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all aspects of the compensation survey management process with third-party survey providers (e.g., Aon/McLagan) and internal business partners. This includes job matching, compiling data submission files, ensuring timely and accurate submissions of data for surveys, and analyzing results.
  • Research and analyze market data and compensation trends with Compensation and HR business partners.
  • Support compensation cycles, including pre-launch UAT testing, and bonus accrual reporting. 
  • Prepare analyses and presentations for compensation reviews in a variety of business contexts, including for compensation cycles, new hires, leavers, transfers, and promotions.
  • Assist with the design and administration of standard Manulife base salary, annual incentive, and deferred compensation programs.
  • With Investment Compensation team colleagues, support the design and administration of investment team-specific programs, including revenue sharing and investment bonus plans, carried interest, employee co-investments, and the loan program. Includes maintaining accurate and current records in third-party administration systems (e.g., EWM Global)
  • Connect with business leaders, functional partners in tax, legal, finance, payroll, and broader HR, and employees on the various compensation programs and offerings.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of compensation data/structure/design.
  • Lead ad hoc compensation projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree and/or the equivalent combination of education/experience/training.
  • 0-3 years’ experience in Human Resources and Compensation with a broad business knowledge.
  • Experience supporting investment management teams, or general interest in the investment industry.
  • Direct experience with investment team compensation programs (including carried interest), major survey providers such as McLagan, enterprise HR systems such as Workday, and third-party administrators such as EWM Global, a plus.
  • Strong technical proficiency, with excellent Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply HR and compensation-related rules and regulations.
  • Strong customer focus and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work to meet time-based deliverables.
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information with professionalism and tact.

Salary range is expected to be between

$61,350.00 CAD - $102,250.00 CAD
