Infrastructure Project Manager

Altis Recruitment

Toronto, Ontario

Salary: From $40.00 to $45.00 per Hour

We are hiring an experienced Infrastructure Project Manager to lead the planning, design, and execution of capital improvement projects across public-facing and operational infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing services.

This role offers a dynamic blend of office-based project coordination and on-site oversight, working with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful execution of infrastructure improvements without impacting day-to-day transit operations.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage assigned infrastructure projects through design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Coordinate project documentation, procurement inputs, risk assessments, reporting, and approvals.
  • Oversee contractors and vendors to ensure work complies with standards, safety regulations, and agreed timelines.
  • Monitor site activities to identify safety or quality issues, resolve conflicts, and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering, safety, operations, customer service) to minimize operational and customer disruptions.
  • Maintain updated project schedules, status trackers, risk logs, and stakeholder communication plans.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections using mobile tools and apps.
  • Ensure work plans and site activities meet occupational health and safety standards.
  • Coordinate Right-of-Way access, flagging requests, and site-specific permits for corridor work.
  • Support customer service teams by identifying and addressing construction-related impacts on customer experience.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the project delivery cycle.

Qualifications and Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience managing infrastructure projects, preferably in transit, public facilities, or operational environments.
  • Solid understanding of design/construction standards, project scheduling, cost control, procurement processes, and contract administration.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills – you're comfortable liaising with both technical teams and frontline staff.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio); experience with project scheduling software and mobile inspection tools is a plus.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License and access to a vehicle during work hours.

Education

  • Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering Technology, Building Science, or a related discipline. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience managing projects in customer-facing environments like train stations, terminals, or service facilities.
  • Familiarity with Right-of-Way construction planning or active railway corridor work.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively mitigate issues related to safety, public access, or customer satisfaction during live construction.
