As a member of the Dam Safety Team, the Dam Safety Technologist contributes to the delivery and stewardship of the dam and canal safety regulatory program through effective implementation of the Dam and Canal Safety Regulatory Framework.
Reporting to the Senior Dam Safety Engineer, this position operates within government policies and procedures, industry best practices, and compliance assurance principles, in support of Department goals. The position also provides technical support to implement the Department's Dam Safety Management Program for Department owned water management infrastructure.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:
Minimum Recruitment Standard for Technologies 5 classification:
Two-year technical diploma in a related field plus four years related experience; or equivalent as described below.

This position works a 36.25-hour week, Monday to Friday. Evening and weekend work is sometimes required.
Travel within Alberta will be necessary, therefore a valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required.

About Your Work Environment: You will be working primarily in an office setting located in Edmonton. However some to travel to field sites located throughout Alberta will require occasional overtime and overnight stays. Performing duties on a rotating 24/7 basis during flood or other emergency events may be required.
