Our client in the municipal services industry is hiring for a Technical Assistant. This temporary role supports laboratory operations by processing samples, managing data entry, assisting internal and external clients, and handling general administrative tasks.
Location and work model: Pickering, Ontario, on-site
Schedule/hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Contract duration: 2 months
Responsibilities:
Receive and process samples submitted for laboratory testing using Lab Information Management System (LIMS), following regulatory guidelines
Respond to customer inquiries and coordinate shipping/receiving of sampling containers and related documentation
Monitor and record equipment temperatures used for sample storage
Process financial transactions related to laboratory testing and purchasing
Ensure proper disposal of processed samples in line with lab procedures
Perform general administrative duties
Requirements:
Post-secondary certificate in Water Quality or a related environmental services field
Minimum of six months of related work experience
Familiarity with lab testing services and scientific terminology in microbiology and chemistry
Understanding of Laboratory Quality Assurance standards, Health & Safety policies, purchasing processes, and records management
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with LIMS, FIMS, RIM, and HCM systems
Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, time management, and organizational abilities
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks
