The Unclaimed Property (UCP) Analyst contributes to the oversight of and is the subject matter expert on Manulife’s Unclaimed Property Program, including Manulife’s UCP Policy, Standards & Guidelines; Provincial Legislation requirements and UCP Financial Controls. The incumbent is responsible for the reconciliation of the UCP Inventory Control, tracking, maintenance, reporting, and resolution of discrepancies for Canadian Markets unclaimed property for all Provinces. The UCP Analyst remains current on UCP related technologies and delivers valuable UCP consultation to internal business partners on the current due diligence, product dormancy, legislative, reporting, and financial requirements. They will support Canadian Markets working with Compliance, Finance, Audit, Privacy, IT, Segment Business Units and Provincial Regulators; to ensure the reconciliation of the Unclaimed Property repository aligns with the General Ledger. The incumbent should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to optimally collaborate with individuals at all levels at the organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and influence the resolution of UCP financial outages, adhering to key financial and UCP controls to meet or exceed compliance requirements.

  • Develop and communicate monthly reporting metrics on UCP Inventory Control risks and progress to senior management, identifying risks of unreconciled items for all provinces.

  • Create best practices for reporting and tracking Unclaimed Property, including driving a Quality Assurance program and supervising due diligence guidelines.

  • Lead meetings to provide guidance on solutions for financial or UCP repository differences and manage inquiries from analysts and business partners regarding administrative issues.

  • Nurture and expand relationships with Operations, Audit, Finance, Compliance, Privacy, and IT support to facilitate effective collaboration.

  • Lead business initiatives to analyze and provide solutions for complex processing, accounting standards, and technical improvement opportunities, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations

Required Qualifications:

  • University degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent business experience

  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence a diverse internal and international user community, with strong interpersonal skills for communicating across geographical and cultural boundaries

  • Self-directed with strong initiative and time management skills to independently meet objectives and adapt to tight deadlines under pressure

  • Achievement-oriented with strong project management, analytical, and financial aptitude, along with a solid understanding of financial and business processes, products, and services

  • Strong customer service and problem resolution skills related to Unclaimed Property processes and financial inventory control reconciliation, with a sound understanding of control/risk principles

  • Robust technical skills in Excel, Word, Salesforce, AWD, eTreasury, and Unclaimed Property Repository, using knowledge to drive discussions, facilitate decision-making, and resolve financial discrepancies

Salary range is expected to be between

$68,775.00 CAD - $114,625.00 CAD
