Position Summary: Senior Accountant - 6 months contract A highly analytical and strategic role responsible for supporting financial planning, controllership, and compliance functions within a complex, multi-division organization. The Senior Accountant guides management on financial governance, risk mitigation, and internal control frameworks, while also playing a critical role in budgeting, forecasting, and policy development.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and support a modern controllership framework, including policies, standards, risk management strategies, and internal audit readiness.
- Provide advisory support to leadership on budget planning, financial reporting, and procurement compliance, ensuring alignment with internal controls and legislative requirements.
- Prepare and analyze financial forecasts, business cases, and budget allocation strategies, identifying cost pressures and recommending corrective actions.
- Monitor and support adherence to appropriation control processes and evaluate strategies to manage budgetary constraints.
- Lead or participate in special projects focused on financial process improvement, system optimization, and policy enhancements.
- Deliver training sessions and technical guidance to staff on financial practices, reporting requirements, and compliance standards.
- Ensure financial activities are aligned with regulatory frameworks, internal policies, and industry best practices.
- Develop and present reports, briefing notes, and analytical summaries to senior leadership and external oversight bodies.
Qualifications and Skills:- Solid understanding of financial management principles, including forecasting, budgeting, risk analysis, and internal controls.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and frameworks governing public sector or complex organizational financial operations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess financial data and translate insights into strategic recommendations.
- Excellent communication, consultative, and interpersonal skills, with experience advising leadership and collaborating across departments.
- Proficiency in financial systems and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, ERP/financial planning platforms).
