Controller, International Finance
The role will be responsible for developing world class accounting functions for the International Real Estate portfolio, as well as the required systems, processes, and policies. The role will be responsible for providing timely & accurate financial accounting and reporting, as well as ensuring that the key accounting processes are optimized and meet internal controls requirements. This position is a very hands-on role that leads the overall Yardi structure of the International Real Estate portfolio and our overall capital processing and accounting. This role will report to the Vice President, Finance.
Responsibilities
Management and Leadership
Lead financial accounting and reporting for the International Real Estate portfolio
Build strong working relationships with other International Real Estate teams
Oversee the work and development of the International Finance staff of approximately 3-10 people
Financial Accounting and Reporting
Provide overall guidance and oversee the capital processing, investment accounting and property accounting to ensure records are accurately maintained with no delay
Complete the daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounting in accordance with established timelines
Proactively manage, maintain and optimize the complex structure of the International Portfolio in Yardi to ensure the needs of the business are met now and for future growth
Ensure documented controls are being adhered to on a continuous basis with minimal or no discrepancies
Seek to add or improve internal controls to address financial risks
Lead the automation of various reporting requirements
Assist in the annual audit of all international real estate related investment entities, including pooled investment portfolios
Assist in the onboarding of investment portfolios providing overall guidance in the setup, maintenance and ongoing reporting requirements and future enhancements
Act as liaison between QuadReal and our real estate partners to ensure an appropriate level of information is received and shared
Build strong relationships across the different business units in the organization and across the different levels
Assist with the annual budgeting process
Liaise with the Treasury group to help manage International cash flow requirements
Perform ad-hoc projects, analysis, and reporting as required
Other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job, as requested by management
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Recognized professional accounting designation
CPA/CA with Big 4 firm would be an asset
Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience within various accounting and finance roles of increasing responsibility and complexity, and relevant experience in real estate
Candidate must be eligible to work in Canada
Specialized Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Strong experience in investment / securities accounting
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Experience with Yardi would be a strong asset
Prior experience with investment valuation, financial reporting and tax issues for complex investment structures is an asset
Prior experience with an accounting system implementation is an asset
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to display initiative and sound judgement
Superior communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Experience working in a fast-paced environment

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $125,000 - $140,000.
The actual salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, the market compensation of the role, and the consideration to internal equity.
