Here’s the scoop - Summary

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the direct management, planning, directing, coordinating and handling of storage and distribution functions at the organization’s Canadian Kitchen Warehouses, Distribution Center and third-party facilities.

This includes accountability for inbound and outbound freight, as well as adherence to legislative, safety, and organizational policies and procedures. The Warehouse Manager will provide effective logistical oversight by demonstrating strong leadership and sound decision-making, while managing operational costs to ensure alignment with budgetary targets.  The Warehouse Manager will also support the Food Safety Programs by ensuring that warehouse associates are knowledgeable in the identification, prevention, and mitigation of food safety hazards.

What a typical day looks like

  • Manage distribution operations, including the day-to-day activities, to achieve set goals and targets
  • Participate in the development of setting distribution budgets and manage expenses within the established budget
  • Coordination and control of the manufacturing cycle; monitoring quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of ingredients and finished goods
  • Oversee and manage inventory flow, including the efficient receiving, storage, rotation, and handling of ingredients, packaging, and finished goods
  • Develop and implement warehouse and distribution center layout and space utilization plans to minimize loss or damage and maximize operational efficiency
  • Ensure all production orders are shipped on time, in adherence to delivery schedules
  • Maintain appropriate and complete documentation regarding regulated products and/or hazardous materials
  • Supervise facility design, improvements, contracts, etc
  • Support the Food Safety Program by developing and implementing department-specific SOPs aligned with program standards, and actively participating as a member of the HACCP team.
  • Implement Champion’s strategic plan and contribute to and be involved in the evaluation and analysis of the business objectives
  • Effectively manage and allocate team resources to adapt to shifting priorities and fluctuating workloads.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, performance management, and retention of high-performing team members to build a skilled and engaged workforce.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 What you'll bring

  • University degree in business, with a focus on manufacturing, warehousing, transportation, supply chain management, inventory control, or materials management, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ direct work experience in a warehouse, transportation, logistics position
  • Direct working knowledge of operations, warehouse management, and transportation management
  • Direct knowledge of WHMIS and other safety systems
  • Experience in managing third-party logistics providers
  • Working knowledge of Food Safety Programs including GMP, HACCP etc
  • High level of proficiency with the Microsoft Office productivity suite
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while providing leadership to a team
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, evaluate, and improve others
  • Motivated, energetic, goal-oriented, with a strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
