Reporting to the Senior Manager of Designation and Coordination, you will be a vital contributor to the All-Season Resort Program—supporting the designation of ASR lands, engagement with internal and external stakeholders, policy and regulatory framework development, and interdepartmental operational coordination. Your work will shape the future of resort development in Alberta by ensuring collaboration across government, industry, and Indigenous communities. This role is ideal for a solutions-driven professional with a passion for balancing growth, environmental integrity, and community needs.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the land designation process for All-Season Resort Areas through research, content development, mapping, and coordination with key partners.
• Facilitating consultations with First Nations, stakeholders, and the public to ensure transparent and inclusive engagement.
• Collaborating across government departments to incorporate ASR considerations into broader infrastructure, environmental, and economic planning.
• Acting as a liaison between industry leaders, Travel Alberta, and government to bring tourism-focused perspectives to the forefront.
• Leading or contributing to cross-departmental committees, working groups, and initiatives that support ASR implementation.
• Developing and managing ASR-related policies, procedures, community funding tools, and communication materials.
• Engaging with municipalities to align resort development with local planning, utilities, and emergency services.
• Supporting branch operations including logistics, financial planning, and reporting.

Qualifications

Required:  

• University degree in Science, Public Administration , Communications or related, PLUS 4 years related experience or equivalent as described.

Equivalency:

• Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

For Example: 

• Related 1-year certificate PLUS a minimum of 7 years of experience.
• Related 2-year diploma PLUS a minimum of 6 years of experience.
• Related minimum 8 years of experience.

The successful candidate MUST also have:

• Exceptional collaboration and relationship-building skills to work effectively across ministries, with Indigenous communities, and diverse stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking to address complex, often ambiguous challenges with creativity and clarity.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to support external engagement and high-level policy development.
• A high level of organizational awareness and political acuity to manage sensitive issues and support strategic decision-making.
• Flexibility and diplomacy to navigate shifting priorities and conflicting interests in a high-impact, public-facing role.
• Sound judgment and a balanced approach in managing land use, environmental, economic, and social implications.
• A solid understanding of government policy development, regulatory frameworks, and intergovernmental coordination.
• Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, Indigenous consultation, and/or municipal collaboration.

Assets: 

• Knowledge of Alberta’s tourism industry, land use planning tools, and environmental regulations.
• Experience with project management, communications, or cabinet reporting processes.

Additional Position Details:

• Term of Employment: Permanent Full-time position.
• Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week.
• Location: Calgary.
