About the Role
Are you a detail-oriented and driven Accounting Clerk looking to gain public sector experience and contribute to impactful work? Our client is looking to hire an Accounting Clerk to join their team for a 7-month contract, working on-site at their Toronto office.
In this role, you will contribute to the finance team by handling accounts payable and some receivables, reconciling financial records, and supporting the preparation of various remittances.
We're looking for candidates with strong accounts payable experience who have worked in a more manual processing environment with financial systems comparable to Sage 300, Quickbooks Online or Great Plains.
Key Responsibilities
Process AP/AR items such as invoices and expense claims, ensuring accurate coding, appropriate approvals, and timely follow-up on outstanding accounts
Reconcile sub-ledgers and revenue streams to the general ledger
Support the preparation of data for GST/HST, income tax, and CPP remittances
Assist team members with questions and tasks related to financial procedures
Utilize financial software to input transactions and generate standard and ad hoc reports
Qualifications:
At least 1 year of woring expeirence in an accounting role supporting AP/AR workflows and account reconciliation
Familiarity with financial systems such as
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word for documentation and analysis
Able to clearly explain financial processes and address discrepancies
Experienced in drafting financial documents, reports, and correspondence
