The Opportunity:

Medavie is looking for a highly skilled Senior Project Manager! Do you thrive on managing deliverables and leading change in a complex and innovative environment?

Our Corporate Project Management Office (CPMO) team is not your everyday project management team – as a strong team of project managers, we offer work-life balance, collaboration with leadership, and the opportunity to influence change in a health care organization that drives their strategic vision with technology.  Our project managers are the driving force behind the success of projects and programs at Medavie.

As a CPMO Senior Project Manager you develop a deep knowledge of our business and work with a diverse team of IT and Business subject matter experts to deliver projects with varying levels of complexity and risk, on time, on budget, and on schedule. Your accountabilities include ensuring the successful delivery of initiatives in alignment with business goals, communicating results across a broad stakeholder audience, building and developing project teams to ensure maximum performance, providing purpose, direction, and motivation to senior professionals, in support of the overall delivery. As a Project Management Professional, you will also support the growth of the CPMO by contributing to the continuous evolution of our project management methodologies and practices.

This role can be remote within Canada, with the option for in-office or hybrid work arrangement for those who reside close to our offices. Note that working hours are expected in ATL/EST time zone.

What you need to succeed:

We are looking for Project Management professionals who can lead projects throughout the entire project life cycle and who have successfully delivered projects with varying levels of complexity and funding. You have an advanced skill set to motivate others throughout project initiation, planning, execution, and close out. You have experience running in parallel multiple complex projects with Business and IT components, all while managing change effectively. You have experience coordinating internal and external resources with impacts to multiple functional areas.

You are a dynamic project partner and effective communicator with a high degree of emotional intelligence. You can establish and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders; and can adjust communication style to accommodate various audiences. You have experience reporting project outcomes and risks to multiple leadership levels, including executives, with an ability to navigate and escalate complex issues as necessary.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manages the scope and objectives involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.

  • Develops comprehensive Project Management artifacts, including project charters, project plans, detailed schedules, cost plans, risks/issues/decisions registers to be shared with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Defines and manages resource plans/allocations in support of successful project delivery and execution.

  • Understands how to maximize resources, manage expectations, communicate difficult or complex concepts. Works with others to “get the job done” by establishing and promoting effective working relationships with various IT and Business stakeholders, including third parties/vendors and employees.

  • Provides oversight to external delivery partners and vendors, holding them accountable to contractual commitments, deliverables and milestones.

  • Provides oversight and proactive analysis to track performance against objectives and KPIs, using appropriate standard project management tools and techniques.

  • Establishes, maintains, and governs changes to the scope, schedule, and costs, using effective project management and financial management process and practices.

  • Proactively manages risks, minimizes impact, and escalates issues.

  • Monitors and reports project health through standard governance, including status reports and presentation to project and Executive steering committees.

  • Executes lessons learned reviews/project retrospectives to identify areas for improvements.

  • Investigates lessons learned from prior projects, share perspectives with the larger team to apply learnings to new projects.

  • Ensures adherence to existing project delivery and corporate processes and standards.

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field.

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience would also be considered.

Experience:

  • 15+ years of direct progressive project management experience managing customer and business facing IT initiatives of varying degrees of complexity, size, and risk.

  • 5+ years of cumulative experience managing large complex/multi-year digital transformation programs/projects across multiple functional teams.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Full knowledge of Project Management Institute (PMI) standards and framework.

  • Expertise in various delivery methodologies and project frameworks, including Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid Agile.

  • Strong working knowledge of tools used in project management (such as Microsoft Project, Visio, Office Suite, Jira, etc.).

  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving, and multitasking skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex problems into issues that can be clearly communicated and resolved.

  • Excellent client facing, internal and external, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional influencing skills with an ability to engage at every level of the organization.

  • Proven success with stakeholder management, risk management, and change management, dealing with multiple leadership levels in a complex project environment.

  • Excellent understanding of project governance models for complex, multi-stream initiatives.

  • Collaborative leadership style.

  • Language: English, written and spoken. Bilingualism is considered an asset.

  • Experience directly related to implementation of healthcare authorization and/or claims processing is preferred.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is considered a valuable qualification.

Security Clearance: Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B) prior to your start date.  This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
