Your Opportunity

Our Indigenous Services team specializes in Indigenous engagement support, Indigenous traditional knowledge and land use studies, and the integration of Indigenous Knowledge into environmental impact assessments across Canada. We have provided cultural resources planning, management, assessment and mitigation services to private sector resource developers, all levels of government, non-governmental groups, and Indigenous communities. We practice respectful collection and interpretation of information in collaboration with Indigenous groups.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising with project managers and other departments as well as internal and external clients to ensure the delivery of objectives

  • Leading Indigenous Services project teams

  • Undertaking and coordinating proposal writing activities

  • Project management including the creation and management of project budgets and schedules

  • Conducting Indigenous Knowledge and traditional land use studies, including interviews and field studies

  • Reporting, documentation and quality review

  • Completing assessments for regulatory applications

  • Completion of projects efficiently within allocated budgets and timelines

  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior staff

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Experience in team leadership and managing project management

  • Experience in presenting to a variety of audiences including Indigenous and industry clients, regulatory authorities and technical teams

  • Experience in environmental impact assessments

  • Knowledge of Indigenous cultural, historical and political context in Canada

  • Must have a valid driver’s license as travel may be required in this position as project needs dictate

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Indigenous studies, anthropology, sociology, geography, archaeology and/or environmental sciences)

Relevant consulting experience is an asset, particularly in community-based research.

Industry-specific safety training certificates are an asset. Socioeconomics or public health assessment experience is an asset.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

  • Lower Mainland $79,200/BC Other Areas $74,700 - Lower Mainland $114,800/BC Other Areas $108,300 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
