Soldier On is a Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) Personnel Support Program (PSP) delivered on behalf of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Transition Group that contributes to the recovery of ill and injured CAF members and Veterans by providing opportunities and resources through sport, recreational, and creative activities.
The Soldier On Communications and Outreach team is an Ottawa-based group of passionate and detail-oriented achievers who deliver the annual Soldier On Communications and Outreach plan. They tell the Soldier On story centered on the experience of the Soldier On member through their participation in sport, recreational and creative pursuits to help to inspire, empower and enable their recovery. The Communications and Outreach Team supports all regional Soldier On elements as they deliver the operational impact of Soldier On.
The Communications Coordinator, reports directly to the Communication Manager or their delegate and will assist in supporting communication production as well as assisting deliverables surrounding third-party fundraising efforts and sponsorship. They provide direct coordination to ensure that supporters of Soldier On feel valued and recognized. This role is suited for a detail-oriented individual with dynamic communication skillsets, who is comfortable talking to, and collaborating with, internal members of the team as well as external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a strong teamwork-centered work ethic and be able to collaborate across organizational / divisional spheres to maintain momentum on projects, while remaining flexible to management for shifting priorities.

Education, Certifications and Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field AND some years of experience in communications, or in a related field
Experience
In drafting, editing, and issuing feature articles, editorials, web site content, presentations, backgrounders, and any other required informative and promotional texts
In interviewing and researching for news articles
In preparing correspondence and reports
In applying policies, procedures, and regulations
In drafting and editing content for promotional material, publications and social media
In working with graphic artists, photographers and multimedia specialists
In using content management systems and graphic design software
In project coordination
In conducting research and analyzing information

This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.
