Your Opportunity
We have an opening for a Public Relations Manager on our global PR team, to partner with our Water operations. This role requires someone who has serious skills when it comes to PR—a team player who always thinks strategically, can see creative stories and bring them to life, provide counsel to leadership, and respond quickly to shifting priorities.
In this role, you’ll take on media relations, social media strategy, content marketing, issues/crisis management, and reputation management in partnership with Marketing & PR/Communications colleagues and leadership. Combining your business savvy and PR skills, you’ll look for creative ways to tell the most critical stories stemming from our teams.
We’re looking for someone to be based in one of our major metropolitan offices.
Reporting to the Senior PR Manager, the Water PR Manager is part journalist, part storyteller, part strategic advisor. Some of the activities you’ll focus your energy on include, but are not limited to:
Your Key Responsibilities
Media Relations & Research
The Water PR Manager fosters and grows relationships with members of trade and national media. Working with the Water marketing team, Regional PR Managers, as well as Regional Leaders, the individual will devise and execute creative outreach strategies which connect our projects and people with broader trends and news cycles. The Water PR Manager will also establish media relations benchmarks aligned with business objectives and demonstrate evolution of media outreach and results through industry share of voice analysis.
The Water PR Manager will proactively cultivate strategic and empowering experiences for thought leaders (and clients) to engage with regional media. Related opportunities include, but are not limited to thought leadership promotion, news cycle-driven opportunities, and storytelling of local project milestones, among other opportunities. Tactically, channels can include guest columns, feature articles, regional podcast interviews, and other emerging external media opportunities to highlight the work we do, why it matters, and the science and innovation behind it. The Water PR Manager will also lead local brand activation, and is responsible for company reputation management, and crisis response.

As part of the centralized PR Team, this individual embraces a collaborative work environment and regularly meets with the Senior PR Manager and fellow PR Managers to discuss priorities, assignments, and progress toward long-term goals. The Water PR Manager participates in larger PR and Digital team meetings to discuss initiatives and contribute to brainstorm sessions for story and promotional campaign development and content marketing strategies.
The Water PR Manager is also a vital member of the Water team and meets regularly team members to discuss business line priorities, initiatives, assignments, and progress toward short and long-term business line goals.

Professional writing (samples required)
Campaign planning and facilitation
Build and maintain relationships with a wide range of media personnel
Craft and pitch stories, guest column, strategic media placements

Other Requirements:

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Journalism, or Marketing or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum 8 to 10 years of public relations experience in corporate or agency preferred.
Experience with promoting Water Resources, Environmental Services and/or Sustainability Services or A/E/C industry helpful

Salary Range(s):
$101,100 - $151,700 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in PEI
Lower Mainland $119,000 /Other BC Areas $112,300 - Lower Mainland $178,600 /Other BC Areas $168,500 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
