Merchandising Space Planner - Contract Opportunity with Leading National Retailer

Location: Remote - may require occasional onsite visits in Mississauga
Industry: Retail / Merchandising
Type: Contract until February 2026

Our client, a major player in the retail industry, is seeking a Merchandising Space Planner to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong analytical skills and a keen understanding of retail space planning to make a meaningful impact in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and management of Modular Relay Schedules, ensuring seamless execution across merchandising operations.

  • Support strategic initiatives that impact category and modular space by analyzing requests, scoping project requirements, and preparing comprehensive hand-off documentation.

  • Act as a key liaison between internal planners and third-party vendors, driving alignment and timely execution of space planning deliverables.

  • Translate complex data into actionable insights and communicate recommendations that influence decision-makers across the organization.

  • Stay up to date on market, brand, category, and consumer trends to inform planogram development and ensure relevance in execution.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, quality, and collaboration across cross-functional teams in space planning.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Post-secondary education (College Certificate or Diploma required).

  • 1–2 years of experience in a retail or merchandising environment.

  • Familiarity with JDA Space Planning and Floor Planning tools (certification or hands-on experience considered a strong asset).

  • Strong analytical mindset with sound business judgment.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.

  • Proven team player with the ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience managing projects and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
