Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Community Development team is growing in Atlantic Canada, and we are leading an increasing amount number of exciting planning and development projects with multi-disciplinary and integrated service offerings.

We are seeking a Senior Land Development Engineer/Project Manager within our Community Development team ideally based in our Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton, or Charlottetown offices. As a Senior Land Development Engineer/Project Manager, you will be responsible for the management and coordination of residential, commercial, industrial and institutional development projects varying in size and complexity, and you will be responsible for business development activities. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in land development, both technical and project management, and will work to grow the business and team in Atlantic Canada.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Undertaking marketing efforts, and business development pursuits, including lead development, proposal preparation, presentations, relationship and client management.

  • Developing project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.

  • Project Management, including control and management of the financial aspects of your projects.

  • Leading or independently preparing preliminary, functional and detailed design drawings, analysis and reports for site servicing, grading, stormwater management and erosion and sediment control for development projects.

  • Contributing technical direction, design review and detailed design expertise on numerous simultaneous land development files and stamping final drawings

  • Supervision and mentoring of project engineers, technologists and other staff.

  • Liaising with clients, municipalities and approval agencies to assist in obtaining project approvals.

  • Undertaking a variety of project coordination tasks, including liaising with a variety of other design disciplines.

  • Leading client project meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.

  • Working with Construction Administration team to support tender preparation and undertake occasional field inspections.

  • Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.

  • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to nurture and grow client relationships.

  • Capability of overseeing projects from design to completion.

  • Strong leadership, time management, communication and team building skills.

  • Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and demonstrated ability to manage projects.

  • Extensive knowledge of standards, guidelines and best practices relevant to land development.

  • Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.

  • Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.

  • Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.

  • Ability to review the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.

  • Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • Advanced understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.

  • Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

  • Experience with Civil3D, GIS, BIM would be considered an asset.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university program.

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in consulting engineering and project management.

Salary Range(s):

  • $91,400 - $137,100 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in PEI

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
