Our client, an established and highly reputable Property Management firm in Ottawa is seeking a Commercial Building Operator to join their team on a full time, permanent basis. The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing  the operations, maintenance, and testing of base building systems, while supporting contractors, energy management initiatives, and health and safety compliance programs.

This is an on-site position in Downtown Ottawa. This role offers a competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and more.


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that buildings are kept in optimal working condition.
  • Conduct regular inspections of both the interior and exterior of properties and perform monthly tests on fire alarm systems.
  • Respond promptly to electronic work orders submitted through facility management software.
  • Consistently adhere to governing standard operating procedures while carrying out routine tasks.
  • Take immediate action during emergency situations such as fires, evacuations, and equipment failures.
  • Coordinate contracts for HVAC and other preventative maintenance services.
  • Adjust building automation systems as necessary.
  • Be available for on-call duty to address after-hours building emergencies on a predetermined rotating schedule.
  • Uphold a clean and safe workplace environment.
  • Fulfill additional job duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • 2-5+ years of experience in a similar position within commercial property management/commercial building operations.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for exceptional customer service and effective communication.
  • Understanding of building and fire codes, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and WHMIS procedures.
  • BES certification is required.
  • Eligibility for a federal Secret Security Clearances is required.
