Agilus is recruiting for a Sr. Mechanical Estimator in the Construction industry in Burlington, Ontario.
POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Estimator is responsible for managing the estimating process for assigned projects or for portions of a project requiring special expertise. The Senior Estimator is accountable for the quality of the work prepared under his/her direction, and is required to work closely with the owner, design consultant and project manager to prepare cost plans, undertake value engineering, complete cost saving exercises and develop the project budget.
Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with the owner and the owner’s agents, in conjunction with Business Acquisition, by recognizing the owner’s unique proposal and project requirements
Produces detailed quantity take-off and prices labour, material and equipment portions of estimates
Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers/subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing for estimates
Manages the estimating process, including site conditions, safety requirements, solicit suppliers and subcontractors, interprets project drawings and specifications, prepares quantity surveys, pricing of estimates, and prepares pricing of General & Special Conditions cost estimate
Identify and quantify potential project Risks. Provides assistance to management for risk analysis
Lead internal construction project start-up meeting and administrative project set up and actively participate in developing procurement plans, labour and equipment forecast, logistics plan and site workflow, project risk register, and project plans.
Develop Bid Packages; scopes of work, drawing packages, specifications, etc. and
monitor and maintain preconstruction schedule
Participate in design, constructability and value engineering reviews. Work closely with the project manager, owner, consultants, suppliers and trades to develop value engineering opportunities
Successful candidates will have:
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction Management or related field plus 10+ years experience
Broad range of past experience working in multiple different contract model environments including but not limited to design-bid-build, progressive design-build and other integrated forms of agreement
Experience in estimation of Water treatment plants preferred
C.E.T, Gold Seal Certification in Estimating and/or Project Management is preferred
