The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a driven, personable, and strategically minded Growth Category Specialist to join their dynamic team. This role is ideal for someone who excels in business development, account management, and retail marketing, particularly within consumer goods and retail spaces. The successful candidate will focus on expanding the client’s retail footprint, managing B2B partnerships, and uncovering new growth opportunities through a combination of sales strategy, marketing activation, and relationship building.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new B2B sales opportunities through proactive research, outreach, and networking to grow market share.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to uncover gaps and opportunities in both established and emerging channels.
  • Develop cross-promotional campaigns with aligned companies to drive brand exposure and retail traction.
  • Recruit new retailers and distribution partners, prepare RFPs and sales proposals, negotiate agreements, and oversee product launches in new channels.
  • Generate reports analyzing product trends, channel performance, and competitive positioning to support strategic decisions.

Account Management & Client Growth

  • Manage and grow existing B2B accounts by developing tailored sales and marketing strategies to drive performance within client retail channels.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for major retail and marketing partners, providing exceptional service and fostering strong, collaborative relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create and execute in-store marketing programs and merchandising strategies that improve product visibility and sell-through rates.
  • Partner with eCommerce teams to support digital marketing initiatives such as paid advertising, social media activations, email campaigns, and content optimization.
  • Conduct regular audits of retail partner websites and product listings to ensure accurate representation of brand and offerings.
  • Support the planning and execution of new product launches in partnership with retail clients and internal stakeholders.

Retail Marketing & Promotional Planning

  • Design client-specific promotional calendars and work with buyers to negotiate price incentives, placement, and promotional exposure.
  • Develop marketing assets and POP materials in collaboration with the marketing team to influence purchase behavior in physical and digital retail environments.

Strategic Partnerships

  • Expand brand reach through collaborative campaigns with like-minded brands and external partners including automotive dealerships and lifestyle companies.
  • Organize and support dealership training and event activations, ensuring sales teams are equipped with effective product knowledge and marketing tools.
  • Facilitate co-branded marketing efforts, including joint social media initiatives, giveaways, and community engagement campaigns to attract new customer segments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-5 years' experience in sales, marketing, or account management, ideally within consumer products or retail industries.
  • Demonstrated success in developing B2B relationships, managing client accounts, and driving business growth through strategic initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of retail marketing and experience with product launches and promotional planning.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with the ability to build trust and influence decision-makers.
  • Self-starter with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, or a related field.

Additional Information

  • This is an office-based position with minimal travel requirements.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
