Position Overview

Calian ITCS is currently seeking an Import Assistant for a 6 months renewable full time contract opportunity to perform the following duties:

Responsibilities

• Continue to track shipments beyond their clearance through Canada customs.
• Discern if a shipment is moving via normal transit or if a shipment is stuck and requires action.
• Contacts for carriers must be retained and updated.
• Expedite and correct shipments as requested/required.
• Ensure entries for HVS shipments are being transmitted by the broker.
• Screen pre-alerted shipment and ensure the information is acceptable for clearance through Canada customs.
• Special projects such as managing End of Quarter shipments.
• Rushes, customs delays, split shipments, incorrect documents, lost, missing or damaged goods.
• Will require working directly with Order Management, Logistics, Carriers and sometimes directly with customers.
• Training vendors / suppliers regarding import process, requirements and government programs.
• Training internal customers regarding import process and requirements to help expedite or plan for shipments.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required by Team Lead.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years experience in performing above listed duties.
• Familiar with: LVS, RMD, PARS, POD’s, NRE, Tax exemptions.
• Basic understanding of tariff classifications.
• Excellent English communication skills.
