About the Role:We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team. This role reports to the Controller and is pivotal in overseeing multiple projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, billing, cash collection, and reporting. The Project Accountant will collaborate closely with other accounting team members to ensure monthly completion of project policies and procedures and will contribute significantly to year-end financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide project updates to the Controller on a monthly basis or as issues arise, offering insights into the financial health of projects.
- Prepare client invoices in line with company procedures, client requirements, and contractual terms.
- Monitor invoice aging and manage cash collections.
- Track accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments as necessary.
- Maintain project setups in the company's project management system, ensuring accurate coding and compliance.
- Engage extensively with project teams, clients, and sub-consultants to ensure the financial health of projects.
- Identify and resolve potential project and accounting issues on a monthly basis.
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting policies, and contractual obligations.
- Support project audits and respond to external audit requests.
Qualifications:- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation (or in progress) is an asset.
- 5+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably within engineering, architecture, or construction sectors.
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition, cost control, and budget monitoring.
- Experience with Deltek Vision or Vantage Point is an asset.
- Proficient in Excel.
