Seeking a dynamic Privacy Policy & Research Specialist to significantly contribute to a robust privacy program. This role focuses on policy development, in-depth research, and strategic privacy management in a public sector context.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, and implement comprehensive privacy policies and procedures.
  • Conduct in-depth research and interpret privacy legislation, regulatory decisions, and emerging best practices.
  • Lead and support the execution of thorough Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
  • Design and deliver effective privacy training and awareness programs.
  • Manage complex access to information requests, ensuring legislative compliance (particularly with frameworks similar to MFIPPA/PHIPA).
  • Assist with privacy incident response, investigations, and support for regulatory appeals.

Core Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Law, Public Policy, Information Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) designation is highly desirable.
  • Several years of dedicated experience in privacy, specifically focusing on:
    • Privacy policy development, implementation, and lifecycle management.
    • Detailed legislative and jurisprudential research and analysis.
    • Conducting and documenting comprehensive PIAs.
  • Proven experience managing complex Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, preferably within a municipal or health information context.
  • Expert knowledge of access to information and privacy protection principles and legislation (e.g., MFIPPA, PHIPA or similar).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent research, interpretation, and policy drafting abilities.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to articulate complex concepts clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, meet strict deadlines, and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
