The Sheriffs Branch is dedicated to promoting safe and resilient communities, performing a wide range of activities in collaboration with other law enforcement and policing partners in Alberta. We invite you to exercise your talents and experience by joining the Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team (FASST) as an investigator based out of Calgary. The goal of the team is to identify, track, and apprehend fugitives throughout Alberta. The teams prioritize offender targeting, strategically selecting those targets which will provide maximum impact on criminal activity and create safer communities in Alberta.
As a Sheriffs Branch, Investigative Services, FASST Investigator, you will be required to function in a complex integrated law enforcement environment. The FASST Investigators report directly to the FASST sergeant who will oversee the FASST teams operations.
Job duties will include, but are not limited to:
The FASST Investigators function in a high-risk environment and must be able to make informed decisions based on sound investigative and tactical information. Excellent interpersonal, communication, workload planning and consensus-building skills as well as a high level of professional sensitivity are just some of the traits that will contribute to your success in this role. To prepare the FASST Investigator for their role they will be required to take an extensive three week FASST training program.
FASST Investigators will actively contribute to and participate in various training functions, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing training associated to a position in FASST. In addition, some investigators may be involved in FASST curriculum development and course delivery.

A two-year diploma in a related field, plus 2 years of progressively responsible related experience is required. A one year journeyman certification may also be considered, accompanied by 3 years of related experience; or equivalent as described.

This is a full-time position, working a compressed four-day-work week, alternating Monday to Thursday and Tuesday to Friday, totalling to 38.75 hours a week which requires evenings and may require weekends. Overnight travel and overtime may be required.
