Our health care client is hiring a Program Business Support Specialist to support the accuracy of financial reporting and the development of the financial operating budget/forecasts and adherence to related deadlines for areas of responsibility. The Program Business Support Specialist is also a key stakeholder in the process for the development of new initiatives as well as being a direct liaison in the ongoing movement towards a more integrated health care model.

This role is a hybrid location in Peterborough, ON. 

Responsibilities:
  • Provide program support for areas of responsibility (clinical and corporate services). Activities include, but are not limited to:
    • Prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial reporting including variance analysis, revenue recognition, reconciliations and other journal entries as required in accordance with applicable statues 
    • External financial reporting preparation and submission as required.
    • Financial operating budget and forecast development in accordance with planning targets.
    • Participate with Programs in developing and bringing forward new initiatives by providing financial input and other support as needed; support the progress reporting process for newly implemented initiatives.
    • Benchmarking, impact analysis and other utilization evaluation tools
    • Act as a resource to educate Program Leadership on financial reporting requirements, limitations, and conformance with applicable statutes
  • Provide general Finance function support as needed.  Activities include, but are not limited to:
    • Lead in the research, implementation and reporting requirements related to collaborative initiatives that support an integrated health care model.
    • Quarter-end and year-end corporate Ministry reporting development analysis, as assigned.
    • Interprets financial and statistical data and educates programs managers/directors on data and reporting practices.
    • Ad hoc reporting and analysis, as required

Qualifications: 
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Health Administration, or Health Information or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 5 + years of accounting experience
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in performance measurement and reporting, as well as operational and financial processes including benchmarking.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders, understand business objectives/requirements, develop performance measures and design reports and analytical tools tailored towards stakeholder and organizational needs to establish trends and help draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication, ability to manage multiple projects, critical thinking, leadership and teamwork.
  • Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines and changing directions.
  • Self-directed, action oriented and highly motivated.
  • Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Approachable, friendly and easy to talk to/work with.
