The Web Writer will support an immediate project focused on revising and updating six public-facing program web pages. This is a short-term contract opportunity ideal for a writer who can work independently, navigate ambiguity, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders under tight timelines.
Revise and rewrite content on six key web pages to reflect evolving program updates and organizational priorities.
Conduct stakeholder interviews to gather accurate and current information from subject matter experts outside the communications team.
Strategically review and integrate relevant existing content from other pages to enhance the revised pages.
Apply brand and style guidelines consistently, ensuring clarity, cohesion, and adherence to tone.
Make content recommendations based on usability, content strategy best practices, and potential for improved engagement.
Conduct light keyword research to support SEO and analyze web traffic to inform content decisions (preferred).
Collaborate with the internal team to meet key milestones and project deliverables, working toward a final draft by mid-June with a target delivery date around July 6–7, 2025.
Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Communications, English, Marketing, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience writing and editing web content in professional contexts.
Experience working with or for government agencies, educational institutions, councils, or granting bodies.
Strong interviewing, synthesis, and writing skills with the ability to distill complex information into clear, accessible content.
Comfort with last-minute changes and working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Familiarity with content strategy principles and light SEO (keyword research, analyzing web traffic) is an asset.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders.
Experience with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
Background or understanding of government programs or granting processes.
You’ll be supported with updated brand guidelines, a defined brand essence, and a comprehensive style guide. While your primary focus will be on rewriting and strategy for six program pages, success in this role could lead to additional ad hoc writing projects beyond June.
