Agilus is recruiting for a Intermediate Mechanical Designer in the industrial automation industry in Oakville, Ontario.
The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for delivering mechanical designs for systems based on project and customer requirements.
A typical day:
Design Systems, Machinery, Products, and Tools using SolidWorks.
Perform engineering calculations and analysis with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designs.
Produce working drawings including detail drawings and detailed bills of materials (BOMs). Designs will be based on input from: Engineering Management, Project Management, Customers, the Manufacturing Team, and other key project stakeholders.
Work with manufacturing and assembly staff to implement the designed equipment.
Work collaboratively in a cross functional team with key internal project stakeholders to develop, design and deliver custom design and built systems, machinery, & tooling.
Ensure that: project milestones / schedule / budget is achieved, mechanical project documentation (quotes, drawing registers, correspondence, requisitions, drawings packages, part and assembly models, schedules, spare parts lists, etc.) are maintained and up to date.
Successful candidates will have:
Post-secondary degree and/or diploma in industrial or mechanical engineering (or related field)
2+ years of relevant industry experience designing complex systems, machines, products, or tooling.
Strong ability and experience with SolidWorks, 3D CAD software, in both 3D design and 2D drawings.
Knowledge of mechanical design principles including kinematics, force analysis, pneumatics, hydraulics and manufacturing / machine shop techniques, materials & material strengths, standard mechanical and electrical components to be incorporated within designs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively issue sketches and instructions to members of the project team.
Ability to be a positive team player in a high paced environment
Nuclear project experience is preferred.
Knowledge of radiation shielding integration in a hot cell or shielded isolator. Experience designing hot cell and isolator liners, outer sheet metal cladding, structural support frame, and manipulator selection/integration. Experience or knowledge of GMP requirements for clean rooms and isolators. Knowledge of HEPA/ULPA filtration systems, unidirectional laminar airflow, pressure-controlled chambers. Knowledge of radiopharmaceuticals manufacturing production processes.
