Role
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Administrative Law Programs Division, the Executive Director, Family Support Order Services will provide strategic leadership for the Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP), to manage court ordered child and spousal support payments for children and families. The primary duty of this pivotal role is to ensure the effective delivery of essential programs that support children and families. The Executive Director will also be responsible for the Child Support Recalculation Program, which provides families a cost-effective alternative to the court system for recalculating child support orders annually and may lead divisional policy initiatives in other areas of Administrative Law. By providing program oversight, the Executive Director will ensure program operations are in alignment with the Ministry’s goals and objectives, the legislative authority granted to each program, and the principles of administrative fairness. In addition, the Executive Director must oversee effective policy development and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance the overall effectiveness and sustainment of program delivery. This role is critical to advancing the Ministry’s mandate of providing fair, accessible and effective justice services with operational efficiency and a compassionate delivery of services that directly impact the well-being of children, families and others within the divisions scope.
This is a high impact leadership position within the Administrative Law Program Division. It requires strategic and innovative leadership to lead a team of professionals and manage an annual operating budget of $20 million to optimize resources and enhance program delivery. The Executive Director will play a crucial role in advancing Alberta’s leadership in family justice services and will leverage the development of national and international reciprocal agreements and partnerships. The Executive Director will be accountable for positioning Alberta as a leader in maintenance enforcement and child support recalculation practices and quality of service delivery. This role will oversee the program responsibilities under the Maintenance Enforcement Act, the Interjurisdictional Support Orders Act and portions of the Family Law Act. MEP is the largest component of the Administrative Law Programs Division and the successful incumbent will provide oversight for new legislative initiatives and collection practices to meet the needs of Alberta families and reduce costs to government.
Qualifications
You are a transformational leader with a proven track record in policy development and implementation. You are skilled at implementing innovative processes and leading change management. Your strong political and financial acumen helps you address complex and sensitive issues, and you have demonstrated success in fostering partnerships across government. As an experienced collaborator you help navigate the needs and interests of diverse stakeholders to achieve the organization’s goals and objectives. A bachelor’s degree is required as well as proficient knowledge and application in the interpretation of legislation and experience in leading, developing, coaching and mentoring teams will aid to your success in this role. Experience managing high performance teams will be considered an asset. A law degree or previous experience leading legislative amendment initiatives are an asset.
Salary
$5,234.94- $6,879.68 bi-weekly ($136,631 - $179,559 yearly)
