The Manager of Records and Information Management (RIM) – Governance and Compliance is responsible for overseeing the organization's Information Asset (IA) lifecycle and providing strategic and operational Information Asset Management support to all departments. This role ensures CFMWS, and all its divisions, comply with legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements for the handling, storage, retention, and disposal of both physical and digital information assets. The manager will lead initiatives to improve efficiency, ensure security, and foster a culture of information governance across the organization.
The function of Data and Information Management is new at CFMWS. As such many of the policy instruments and supporting tools are in development and implementation stages. The Manager of Records and Information Management (RIM) – Governance and Compliance has a key role in establishing this function and building the organization’s Information Asset management maturity. This includes the development, implementation, and maintenance of IA management policies and procedures; the monitoring of program goals, performance metrics, and compliance standards; as well as the coordination of cross-functional initiatives to improve IA management practices.
This manager role is also a critical team member in the implementation of the IA management technology suite (RIMS), including developing a modern retention schedule, metadata mapping, and SharePoint Online information architecture. The role also works in close collaboration with the IT operations and solution architect team, to not only ensure system functionality and ongoing support but also identify and evaluate new IAM technologies, ML and AI opportunities that will advance the strategic goals of CFMWS.
You will be responsible for ensuring organizational compliance with applicable information protection and privacy regulations, manage and update data and IA retention schedules, protection standards, and conduct internal risk assessments. Working closely with IT and legal, you will also develop and maintain access, classification, and usage protocols. This includes up-to-date documentation of policies, access logs, metadata and inventories of archived IAs for future retrieval and audit purposes. You will lead interdivisional project groups regarding the transformation of digital information governance and records management and the sharing of best practices for the end-to-end lifecycle of IA management.
You will represent the organization’s information management with user groups, committees, boards and collaborate with stakeholders to achieve goals and participate in the development, implementation and delivery of communication strategies and training programs; develop and deliver presentations.
Education, Certifications and Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Information Management or a related field AND some years of experience in records and information management or a related field
AND
Certificate from Association of Records Managers and Administrators or equivalent, an asset

This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.
