Position Summary
Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the End User Computing team is responsible for providing secure, stable, and performant desk-side services to the Medavie organization. The successful candidate for the position of Systems Administrator will be accountable for the management and improvement of End user computing products and services, such as Windows and MacOS devices, cellphones, tablets, printers, and associated infrastructure.
This role requires a hybrid work schedule. The in-office work and can be in any of the following offices: Moncton NB, Dartmouth NS, Montreal QC, Etobicoke ON.
Deliver secure, performant, and well-managed desk-side products and services for Medavie’s internal employees
Demonstrate excellence in troubleshooting skills, investigating and resolving complex technical incidents involving interconnected IT components
Act as an ambassador for the End User Computing department, maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders while demonstrating a strong customer focus
Demonstrate strong teamwork skills, working together as part of a larger team of senior IT professionals toward a set of common goals
Identify and mitigate risks to the security and stability of desk-side technology solutions, aligning with industry best practices
Demonstrate a strong desire to learn, continually researching and embracing new technologies and staying current with industry trends
Demonstrate a focus on consistently high-quality results, taking responsibility for the quality of work outcomes, and minimizing any impact to customers or systems
Embrace and contribute to the continual improvement of departmental processes, methodologies, and standards.
Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate for the position of Systems Administrator, you will be accountable for the following:
Using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager and Intune to manage devices which includes software deployment, operating system deployment and delivery of security updates for both Windows and MacOS/iOS.
Administering and maintaining infrastructure and solutions that underpin desk-side products and services, including but not limited Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager, Microsoft Intune, PatchMyPC, Markvision, and other products.
Respond to service requests within the required service levels; interact positively with customers, vendors, and other internal IT teams; answering questions, responding to special requests, and providing in-depth technical support on complex technical problems and incidents.
Design and implement new desk-side solutions; testing, troubleshooting, and providing post-implementation support. Act as a subject matter expert for desk-side systems, assisting with projects that cross Information Technology teams.
Maintain the patch level of desk-side devices, by promptly applying stable firmware and patches to address security risks; maintain supportability of desk-side products by upgrading client operating systems and applications following established procedures.
Monitor the performance, capacity, usage, health, and security of desk-side systems and services; Identify/implement changes to improve performance of desk-side products and ensure that they continue to meet business needs
Understand the concepts of system design within the scope of desk-side services and demonstrate a proven ability to design, document, and implement new technical solutions that solve business problems.
Act as a security administrator for desk-side services, defining and implementing security policies for desk-side systems, in alignment with corporate security guidelines.
Draft and maintain procedural documentation required for the ongoing support of desk-side products and services, demonstrate alignment with knowledge management best practices.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree with a focus in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
Work Experience: A minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of experience supporting enterprise technical solutions is required.
Technical Skills:
Must have experience working with the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows Servers, Microsoft Windows Client and Apple MacOS. Demonstrate working knowledge of the following protocols and concepts: IPv4, DHCP, DNS, FTP, Active Directory, File Systems permissions, virtualization, and Storage Area Networks (SAN). Omnissa Horizon, AWS Workspaces, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, Conditional Access Policies, Exchange Online, Proofpoint, SAML and SSO concepts and scripting with PowerShell.
Other Qualifications:
Previous experience or familiarity with server management, storage and networking concepts. Be familiar with the concepts and practices of high availability, capacity, and disaster recovery. Experience or knowledge with scripting and automation will be considered a strong asset.
Language Skills:
English (Spoken and Written) required. French (Spoken and Written) considered an asset
Security Clearance: Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B) prior to your start date. This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
