Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, continuing care, financial supports, affordable housing, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. Role Responsibilities

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real difference on matters relating to the aging population and Alberta’s seniors? If so, the Seniors Strategic Planning Branch is looking for you to join their team!

 

The Seniors Strategic Planning Branch (within Seniors Division) promotes programs, policies, and initiatives to address social isolation, elder abuse, older workers, ageism, transportation needs, and aging well in community for older Albertans. In addition, the division is responsible for community-based seniors serving sector development, administering community grants, supporting collaboration with stakeholders, and providing input on cross-ministry policies and programs to support seniors from a government wide perspective.


 
The Grants and Contracts Coordinator plays an essential role in the administration and management of grants and contracts for the program areas. 

 

The position:

  • Is responsible for developing a coordinated grant and contract management process for the Seniors Strategic Planning Branch.
  • Designs and maintains grant reporting and looks for opportunities for continuous improvement.  
  • Supports the program areas by drafting and facilitating execution of grant agreements, monitoring and processing payments and managing the approval workflows for associated business processes.

Qualifications

University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience (A degree in public or business administration, social sciences, community development, education, etc.) A master's degree or accounting designation is an asset,


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Assets
Preference will be given to the candidate with the following assets and knowledge:

  • Knowledge of government grant administration to municipalities, Metis Settlements, and/or civil society organizations
  • Stakeholder relations practices 
  • Knowledge of municipal government and civil society organization’s governance, structures, and administrative practices
  • Experience with Master and Subsidiary agreements
  • Experience leading a team
  • Intermediate accounting principles
  • Extensive computer skills utilizing Windows-based applications including advanced Microsoft excel skills, word, excel, databases, and Service Now
  • Excellent verbal communication and the ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Expert Excel proficiency to develop budget summaries, charts and tables, with experience with basic arithmetic formulas (=sum(), =average (), = vlookup()).

Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday

 

This position is located at the Foresty Building (9920 - 108 Street)
