Role Responsibilities

Are you seeking an opportunity to sharpen your case management skills at a quasi-judicial tribunal? If so, the Land and Property Rights Tribunal (LPRT) has the perfect opportunity for you! We are seeking Case Coordinators who are responsible for reviewing, processing, and providing case management support of assigned applications and appeals in accordance with existing policies, procedures, and legislation.

This position provides support and resolves day-to-day issues that arise during the application process. The position promotes a culture of continuous improvement at the LPRT by providing support as required to address workload issues and identifying and participating in opportunities to improve processes and practices.

Responsibilities: 
Your primary responsibilities in this position will include:

  • Reviewing and processing assigned applications in accordance with existing policies, procedures and guidelines and to provide support from intake through to resolution in a fair and timely manner 
  • Providing customer service support and resolving day-to-day issues that arise during the application process 
  • Analyses the application and provides a case summary along with recommendations to Board Officers, Case Managers, Board Members, Director and/or legal counsel to ensure the application process is effective, efficient and consistent with the principles of natural justice and fairness under administrative law
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement at the Boards by providing support as required to address workload issues and identifying and participating in opportunities to improve processes and practices

Qualifications

Required:  Two-year diploma in a related field, PLUS one year related experience or equivalent as described.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
For Example: 

  • Related 1 year certificate PLUS a minimum 2 years of experience
  • Related 2-year diploma PLUS a minimum 1 years of experience
  • Related minimum 3 years of experience


The successful candidate MUST also have: 

  • Strong knowledge of Mandate and principles of the Boards
  • Understanding relevant legislation and regulations under which the Boards operate and the ability to apply the regulations, rules and guides
  • Knowledge of Land Titles, Lease Agreements, survey plans, licensing and licensing authorities
  • Understanding of Quasi-judicial appeal/hearing processes and principles of natural justice and procedural fairness to adjudicate hearings
  • Understanding of Quasi-judicial processes and principles of natural justice and procedural fairness
  • Basic research methodologies  
  • Microsoft Office applications
  • SharePoint and website as communication and document sharing tools


Assets:

  • Experience drafting legal documents
  • Experience working within a quasi-judicial organization or legal environment
  • Experience working with land titles
