Summary of responsibilities:

The Technology Advisor, Maintenance Services is responsible for establishing maintenance programs for screening equipment and systems at airports across Canada. The incumbent is the technical expert on the equipment, and is responsible for creating technical documentation and directives to be used by CATSA’s third party maintenance service providers, providing oversight of maintenance activities and related contract deliverables, and ensuring the equipment meets performance requirements for availability and reliability. The Technology Advisor, Maintenance Services performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.

What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:

  •         Graduation from a recognized college or university with a specialization in Technology or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position.

  •         A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a technical field specific to electronics or computer systems hardware.

  •         Experience planning, organizing and coordinating various projects and programs.

  •         Experience researching, analyzing, reporting, and providing recommendations, both orally and in writing, to management regarding equipment maintenance needs.

  •         Experience conducting lab and operational tests or trials.

  •         Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

Valuable skills include:

  •         Knowledge of CATSA's mandate and priorities, as well as an awareness of relevant legislation impacting CATSA.

  •         Knowledge of the trends and developments of new aviation screening technologies, or other issues impacting the development/implementation of equipment performance and operational standards, and equipment testing and evaluation practices.

  •         Knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of threat detection, technology evaluation/validation, systems integration, quality assurance, research and analysis, technical reporting, and redundancy.

  •         Knowledge of computer networking as related to the operation and maintenance of security screening equipment.

Specific work requirements

  •      Ability to work overtime as required;

  •      Ability to travel as required

  •      Language Profile: English eseential;

  •      Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance; and

  •      Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
