Location: Downtown Ottawa
Work Model: Hybrid, 1-2 days per week onsite in downtown Ottawa
Eligibility to obtain Security Clearance: Secret (Required)
Focus: Design AI/ML solutions, RPA workflows, and Azure-based data infrastructure.
Work type: Permanent full time role with group insurance benefits, pension plan, 4 weeks paid vacation, and incentive pay (bonus and annual salary increase based on performance).


Position Summary

Lead the technical architecture, development, and implementation of innovative data solutions leveraging cloud technologies, AI/ML, and robotic process automation (RPA). Drive our client's data strategy to enhance decision-making, system integration, and operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Innovation

  • Architect scalable, high-performance data science infrastructure (cloud/on-premise).

  • Design and implement AI/ML solutions, large language models (LLMs), and RPA workflows.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve business challenges using data-driven insights.

  • Evaluate emerging tools (e.g., Azure cloud services) to advance data capabilities.

Governance & Compliance

  • Ensure alignment with Data Management (DM) Framework, policies, and security standards.

  • Represent data interests in IT architecture decisions, prioritizing data-centric strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Data Science, IT, and business teams to identify use cases and optimize system integration.

  • Build external networks in cloud computing and data analytics to share industry best practices.


Qualifications

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with specialization in computer science, information technology/management, or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum eight (8) years progressive experience in IT, including five (5) years experience in the design and delivery of complex and large-scale technical projects applying in solution development and architecture.
  • Two plus (2+) years of experience leading wide-scale Data science initiatives (Data & Analytics, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Robot Process Automation)using cloud computing.
  • A minimum of two years experience in cloud computing solutions in Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience providing advice and preparing reports, plans, recommendations and briefing material for others, including senior management.

  • Experience and understanding of complex computer hardware, data, data centers, and software
  • Broad understanding of impacts and considerations for IT
  • Virtualization knowledge such as hardware platforms, storage, network resources and how virtualization can play a role in modern solutions
  • Knowledge of various operating systems and databases
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and effective decision-making; exhibit strong process improvement orientation, and have the experience to lead discussions and achieve positive results amongst inter-disciplinary

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross- functional teams and
  • Understand how changes affect aspects of the business such as processes and functions, data, application and infrastructure changes. Be able to consider further changes and additional processes or new emerging technologies.
  • Interpret and understand information to make efficient effective decisions/recommendations using critical thinking and problem solving
  • Demonstrated experience understanding and interpreting risk to make recommendations for change
