The Corporate Finance team within BMO Commercial Bank, Canada, part of BMO Financial group covers both large public and private corporate clients operating in diversified, real estate, auto dealership finance and various other specialized industries. The Team assesses financing opportunities representing $10MM or more, both on a syndicated and bilateral basis. Financing solutions offered include, but are not limited to, senior, subordinated and mezzanine debt, in addition to equity. The selected candidate will join the Financial Services Group (“FSG”), part of the Specialty Segments, which focuses on management and origination of banking relationships within the Financial Services sector, and will join the Specialty Finance Portfolio which focuses on senior debt financing opportunities with non-regulated lenders or long-term lessors and as well as full banking relationships with specific financial services sub-sectors. The Financial Services Group is based in Toronto and has national coverage in the sector.
Job Overview
The Director will join the FSG team that is responsible for senior secured loan origination and account management of a growing portfolio of clients. The Director will have direct portfolio management responsibilities of an existing portfolio comprised of lending relationships with complex credit structures and important cash management needs. This include making approval recommendations and working collaboratively with various Corporate Finance representatives to best serve and manage these existing client relationships as well as grow the portfolio by adding new relationships.
Job Description
The selected candidate:
- Manages the risk of the assigned complex portfolio in a timely and precise manner.
- Acts as daily sales contact for clients on sales related questions such as product information, pricing, implementation timeframes and requirements.
- Directly manage the annual review process, interim reviews, specified quarterly reports and resolution of exceptions.
- Assists team in pre-sales activities such as pitch preparation, client research, preparation of prospect and client files for further action.
- Assists with sales and service administration and processing ensuring client experience is seamless and opportunities are identified and met.
- Gathers data to advance sale process and completes all required documentation.
- Tracks implementation requests to keep the process on track with timelines.
- Tracks Internal reports and recommends improvements to sales support materials based on findings and feedback.
- Maintains accurate documentation and ensure adherence to prescribed policies and procedures and overall safety of the Bank’s position.
- Maintains current client information on Bank system/files to ensure client history is accurate and complete.
- Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
- Typically, 7+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A CPA, CBV, CFA or other relevant professional designation or advanced/graduate degree, ongoing or completed, is an asset.
- If a Credit Qualifiable job, Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the established qualification standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant industry verticals and market’s competitive environment
- Experience in contact negotiations with both clients and legal counsel
- Computer literacy and technical skills as it relates to basic Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) – In-depth / Expert

$84,000.00 - $156,000.00SalariedThe above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
