05/18/2025Address:100 King Street WestBusiness ManagementThe Manager, Client and Investment Operations is responsible for operational relationships with institutional client and investment management delegates, representing the firm and acting as the operational conduit to the business. This is mainly an oversight function to ensure delegated operational activities are delivered to time, quality and with minimal risk to the business. This will be predominantly managed through telephone and face to face service meetings and email communications.
Outsourced Oversight Functions:
- Operational oversight of the outsourced client and investment management operations in line with service level agreement expectations.
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner to minimize any potential end investor, risk or financial impact.
- Liaise with the Compliance team to facilitate effective monitoring activities and support audit activity as required.
- Works independently with auditors to ensure positive results.
- Responsible for complex issue escalations and resolutions.
- Ensure completeness, timeliness and accuracy of work.
- Independent and active participation in projects, initiatives and new business meetings.
- Proactively review current processes to identify areas where efficiency can be improved and/or risks mitigated.
- Develop and implement efficient processes and workflows as our business grows and changes.
- Other activities as assigned.
Daily Oversight functions:
- Participate in Institutional client calls as required.
- Oversee and support functions such as Institutional client trade processing, client invoicing, security master setup, monitor trade fails, monitor for upcoming corporate actions and liaise with investment team for trade signoffs, election decisions, collateral management, cash and holdings reconciliations, pricing oversight for the investment book or record.
- Key contact for client invoicing and/or trade verification related matters between the internal teams and outsourcer
- Ensure data required by the investment team is accurately provided on a timely basis
- Strong knowledge of systems, various interfaces and portfolio management data
This role requires a deep understanding of institutional client operations (Client Processing of trade requests, Client Invoicing) as well as an understanding of each stage of the investment operations process to be able to oversee activities conducted by others (e.g. trade lifecycle, settlements, custody, late trade processes, corporate actions, unit dealing etc.).
Knowledge and Attributes:
- Relevant work experience within an asset management company or investment bank, of which 5 years or more in an Operations oversight role.
- Deep understanding of complex instrument types
- Bachelor’s degree or MBA in a relevant subject
- Industry qualification such as CFA, CPA, CSC
- Comfort working with ambiguous problems
- Team player / Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritise own workload
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Investigative by nature
- Proactive with an attention to detail
- Potential to move to a leadership role.
- Project Management experience
Skills and Competencies:
- Advanced Excel
- Be able to manage/analyse large amounts of data from multiple sources
- VBA and Macros is a plus
- Working knowledge of yield curves, discounting cash flows and liability matching
- Bloomberg
- Charles River CRIMS
- Salesforce CRM
