Reporting to the Manager, Document and Identity Verification of the Special Investigations Unit, the Document and Identity Verification Analyst is part of the Document and Identity Verification (DIV) team, responsible for protecting the integrity of the Motor vehicle by ensuring documents accepted, information provided, and images/identities captured are accurate.

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Understand the processes and requirements for GDL exemptions intake of documents. 
• Assist in collecting data and support the DIV in their examination of documents submitted to Service Alberta from both reciprocal and non-reciprocal jurisdictions.
• Create and maintain a database/library of legitimate and fraudulent driver’s licenses, and or other documents submitted to Alberta Registries. 
• Assist in conducting investigative file work.
• Assist in monitoring registry agent compliance with legal and procedural requirements relating to the GDL and GDL Exemption Programs.
• Support the Director, Assistant Director and Document Team Manager in achieving the mandate and goals of the SIU and Ministry.

Qualifications

At a minimum, two-year diploma in Criminology or Justice Studies required or equivalent as described below. 

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

•   1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
•   1 year of experience for 1 year of education. 

Following are the requirements for this position: 

• Qualification for Level 3 security clearance.
•  A valid Class 5 (full or GDL) operator’s license and the ability to travel throughout the province.

The following will be considered assets:

• Knowledge of applicable SIU, Ministry and government legislation, policies, guidelines, and processes for the delivery of administrative services. 
• Knowledge of the GDL Exemption program and the role of SIU administering this program.

Notes

Hours of Work: 36.25 (Mon-Fri).

Location: 810 Petex Building 600 6 Ave SW, Calgary.

Duration: This is a temporary position with a duration of 15 months.

If a security screening is required:

• Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate. Out-of-province applicants can obtain the required documents/checks from the province they currently reside in.

If temporary assignments or under-fills will be considered:
