Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Assignment Editor, this multi-skilled and motivated team player will be well versed in multi-media reporting and be responsible for:

  • Appearing on-air, interviewing, writing, voicing, producing and reporting, of sports stories on deadline for television, digital and social.  
  • Appear on live game broadcasts in various roles depending on the production 
  • Editorial decision making. Maintain and developing relationships with key stake holders in various areas of the market with a focus on the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers
  • Generate original story ideas.
  • Covering breaking news and live stories;
  • Producing, writing and posting editorial content for all platforms
  • Live reporting
  • Back-up anchor
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Critical Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma from an accredited post-secondary broadcast, Journalism or related program
  • At least five years experience in a television sports, news reporting or anchor role
  • Previous sports reporting an asset
  • Demonstrated presentation and video journalism skills
  • Strong editorial judgment with a proven ability to use sound and pictures to help tell the story
  • Experience as a live to air reporter an asset
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to work unsupervised and make quick decisions
  • Proficient in Canadian Press Style
  • Ability to deal with multiple demands and pressures of on-air deadlines
  • Demonstrated understanding of broadcast law
  • Must have and maintain valid documents required for travel to the United States and abroad
  • Analytical and rigorous personality with strong work ethic;
