Our client, a respected international organization in Ottawa, is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Senior Procurement Advisor for a 14-month assignment.

This position will follow a hybrid work model, requiring 3 days in office every 2 weeks.

In this crucial role, you'll provide expert leadership and guidance, developing innovative procurement solutions that directly support our client's operational needs and strategic goals. If you thrive on building partnerships, navigating complex sourcing challenges, and managing the full contract lifecycle, this is the role for you!

What You'll Do:

  • Be a Strategic Partner: Act as the primary procurement contact for assigned client portfolios, understanding their business needs and providing expert advice, guidance, and innovative solutions.
  • Lead Sourcing & Solicitation: Develop effective sourcing strategies, manage the end-to-end solicitation process (RFIs, RFPs, RFQs), lead evaluation committees, and ensure fair, open, and ethical practices.
  • Master Contract Management: Draft, negotiate, and manage a variety of contracts and framework agreements, ensuring favourable terms, mitigating risks, monitoring performance, and handling the entire contract lifecycle from creation to close-out or renewal.
  • Cultivate Vendor Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing vendors, negotiate effectively, manage performance, and resolve disputes professionally.
  • Ensure Compliance: Guarantee adherence to relevant procurement policies, procedures, and applicable trade agreements (CFTA, CETA, USMCA).
  • Drive Improvement: Advise on and utilize procurement systems and tools, contribute to process enhancements, and support vendor onboarding.
  • Provide Guidance: Coach stakeholders on procurement best practices, policies, and systems.
  • Manage Logistics: Advise on shipping methods, handle documentation, and coordinate logistics for domestic and international shipments when required.

What You Bring:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience leading integrated procurement functions, with expertise in at least three of the following: Sourcing & Solicitation, Contracting & Contract Lifecycle Management, Vendor Relationship Management, Procurement Systems/Tools.
  • Education: A university degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Commerce, Administration, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and significant relevant experience.
  • Trade Agreement Knowledge: Essential understanding and practical application of public procurement obligations under trade agreements, particularly the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA).
  • Sector Experience: Experience in both public and private sector procurement is essential.
  • Skills:
    • Proven project management abilities.
    • Solid understanding of contract law fundamentals.
    • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
    • Proficiency in procurement systems and standard office software.
  • Language: Bilingualism (English and French) is at an intermediate level is preferred (or a desire to learn French).
  • Assets: Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., SCMP/PSCP, CPPB/CPPO).
