Global Wealth & Asset Management (GWAM) is a key growth segment for Manulife. We operate different channels (Retail, Wealth, Retirement and Institutional) and are a major player in North America, Asia and Europe.

The Director, Wealth Strategy is a key contributor to the overall strategy, growth, and transformation of the MIM franchises. Reporting to Head, Wealth and Retirement Strategy, the Director will have a specific focus on our NA Wealth business and will partner with multiple stakeholders to identify/refine strategic objectives, translate strategies into discrete priorities and drive quality execution of initiatives.

More specifically, the Director will be responsible for the following:

  • Analyze key strategic priorities and bring insights to generate executive action that creates value for the organization
  • Advance strategy for our Wealth business in Canada and Personal Investing business in the US
  • Ensure discretionary spending aligns with strategic priorities
  • Establish and drive cross-functional collaboration and engagement across the GWAM, focusing on execution and business readiness in support of the broader enterprise strategy.
  • Work closely with Finance, Transformation and Business Operations partners to monitor progress on strategy execution and delivery, identifying areas of intervention and required pivots where needed
  • Align with competitive and market intel to ensure the strategic goals are both aspirational and achievable
  • Contribute to the development of presentations to the Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Team, Transformation Delivery Team and other senior audiences
  • Manage strategic projects, as needed
  • In this high-profile and fluid role, the candidate may also be asked to support other parts of the GWAM business on an as-needed basis.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Education:
 

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant, progressively senior experience
  • Experience in wealth and asset management is preferred  
  • Result-oriented with an ability to multi-task, prioritize multiple initiatives and develop solutions
  • Proven ability drive results while implementing innovative solutions that challenge the status quo
  • Strong business, strategic, critical and analytical thinking
  • Ability to lead, influence and drive collaboration, accountability and innovation across GWAM
  • Ability to set, manage and work to the expectations of stakeholders and to work independently as well collaboratively in a dynamic group
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, with varying audiences in a matrixed, geographically dispersed environmentUsing appropriate judgment in dealing with unexpected issues and requests, demonstrating an ability to prioritize work

Salary range is expected to be between

$105,750.00 CAD - $190,350.00 CAD
