Eligibility:

This posting is open to Permanent Teachers and Probationary Teachers currently employed by Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board. This is a one (1) year appointment, with the possibility of extension for another (3) three years, subject to continued funding. The teacher will have the right of first refusal the following school year should the appointment be extended.

Salary Range:

Paid based on the salary grid of the Collective Agreement with OECTA according to QECO rating and years of experience.

Qualifications :

  • Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
  • Primary/Junior Qualifications
  • Religious Education, Part 1
  • Additional Qualifications in Reading, Focus on Early Years.
  • 5 years of classroom teaching experience

Application and Requirements :

  • Complete Faith Reference Portfolio (current within 1 year)
Notes:

The successful candidate will:

  • Ensure the successful implementation of the new language curriculum and effective instructional practices for elementary teachers.
  • Have a strong understanding of the Science of Reading and the Science of Learning and use of screening tools and diagnostic data to create student and classroom profiles.
  • Provide training to elementary school teachers on the implementation of evidence-based strategies in early literacy instruction and interventions.
  • Work closely with Literacy Specialist Teachers to support targeted elementary schools.
  • Support networks/families of targeted elementary and secondary schools when applicable.
  • Support the implementation and inform the monitoring and evaluation of the Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) to improve students' language performance.
  • Work with schools in the facilitation of parent engagement in their children's language learning.
  • Support the building of Catholic character and culture within school communities through the effective delivery of curriculum initiatives that integrate faith across the curriculum.
  • Must be an effective oral and written communicator who has demonstrated the ability to collaborate as part of a team as it relates to the Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP)
  • Demonstrate leadership in the inquiry model for professional development and the integration of technology and digital resources to support innovation.
  • Will work as part of an integrated team supporting the work of the system in partnership with other central staff.
  • Train educators in Acadience Reading Essentials K-6 and in using the Acadience Learning Online platform and provide ongoing professional development.
  • Support educators in student centered learning to develop transferable skills.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide their own vehicle to travel to school sites. The successful candidate will work out of the Board Office, Napanee. Travel expenses will be paid according to Article 25 of the current Collective Agreement. Please contact Human Resources for further information.
