Designs databases that follow standards for data integrity, security and application specifications. Implements database changes in the non-prod environments and delivers changes to production according to project specifications. Provides support for all applications that use DB2, including application design, SQL coding, performance tuning, backup/recovery strategy, DB2 Client, remote connectivity, security, and troubleshooting.
- Provides day-to-day database administration, support and monitoring for DB2 z/OS databases in non-production environments.
- Designs, implements and maintains DB2 z/OS databases in non-production z/OS environments.
- Prepares and documents database changes for delivery to production.
- Collaborates with other DBAs, application developers and other cross-functional teams.
- Performs logical and physical database design, enforcing best practices to enhance data integrity, security and performance.
- Resolves performance and application related issues.
- Supports application developers with recommendations on backup/recovery strategy, SQL coding, SQL performance tuning, stored procedures and other application design issues.
- Develops, maintains, enforces and documents database design standards and database security guidelines.
- Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
Required level of proficiency:-
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience with DB2 z/OS within the last 10 years.
- Experience with DB2 z/OS v12 and up.
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and maintain databases.
- Solid knowledge of JCL, z/OS, TSO/ISPF
- Experience with DB2 distributed applications
- Experience with SQL performance tuning.
- Solid knowledge of DB2 security features
- Practical experience with DB2 z/OS basic features like utilities, SQL language, packages and plans, access path explain, large objects (LOBs), triggers, stored procedures (native SQL and external), user-defined functions.
- Understanding of various aspects of DB2 z/OS Database Administration.
- Working knowledge of DB2 data sharing.
- Experience with various backup/recovery scenarios.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Strong team collaboration and customer service focus.
- Bachelor of Science degree in a computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
